This is a single cask Glen Grant, distilled in September 1990 and matured for 27 years in a bourbon cask. It was bottled in September 2017 at 46% ABV for Montgomerie's Rare Select range, and the cask gave 315 bottles.
Glen Grant is a Speyside distillery, and the bourbon cask is the source of the musky character found in its older bottlings.
The nose has fig, shortbread and honey-drizzled sponge cake, with a little clove and pink peppercorn. The palate brings oak tannins, red berry sweetness and rum and raisin ice cream. The finish carries waxy orange peel, menthol and runny caramel.
