A 32 year old single malt from Glen Grant in Speyside, distilled in 1992 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 9.312, named When Orchards Dream. It comes from a single ex-bourbon barrel and was bottled as 102 bottles.
The notes describe an orchard theme. Green apple jelly, cider-poached pears, apple wine, satsuma and marzipan come first. Apricot nectar, nectarine, elderflower and sandalwood follow on a silky palate, and a drop of water brings orange oil, vanilla cream and beeswax. The finish offers toasted coconut, grapefruit, champagne jelly and soft fruit blossom.
