This is a 64 year old Glen Grant from 1957, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as the second edition of its Mr George Legacy. The whisky was filled into a single first-fill sherry butt on 10th October 1957 and bottled at cask strength, 56.1%, in 2021. The butt yielded 298 bottles.
Mr George is George Urquhart, who created the Connoisseurs Choice range in 1968. He was the grandfather of Stuart Urquhart, the company's current Operations Director. The first-fill sherry butt gave the whisky a very dark chestnut colour.
