A 38-year-old Speyside single malt from Glen Moray, released by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as 35.405, Statuesque Elegance, in its Creators Collection. It comes in a 70cl bottle, with 185 bottles filled.
It began in two bourbon hogsheads, one from 1987 and one from 1988. Each was moved into a first fill PX barrique at 31 years old. Three years later the two were married, and after a further two years the whole was moved into a second fill bourbon barrel.
The tasting notes describe polished olive ash wood and a sherry bodega on the nose. The palate brings bread-and-butter pudding, spiced poached pear with blackberries and chocolate-coated Brazil nuts. Water adds an incense-smoked old fashioned and rose and basil chocolate macaroons.
