Glen Moray – Centenary Finished in Port Wood is a single malt whisky from Glen Moray (Speyside). Bottled at 40% ABV, 70cl.
This was bottled to commemorate the centenary of Glen Moray distillery in 1997. The whisky is a combination of four casks from 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979, all matured in bourbon casks. A further maturation period followed from 1987 in port wood from Duoro Valley, Portugal.
Glen Moray was one of the first distilleries to experiment with wine cask finishes and these port examples being very popular.
A Speyside malt distillery that was originally built as a brewery in 1828 before converting to whisky production in 1897. It was an important part of the Macdonald & Muir portfolio in the 20th century, however as of 2008 has been owned by the La Martinquaise division of COFEPP in France.
