This is an 18 year old single malt from Glen Scotia, bottled at 46% ABV.
The whisky spent 17 years in bourbon casks and then a further 12 months in Oloroso sherry casks. Glen Scotia's fruit and spice character comes from its traditional copper pot stills.
The nose combines dark, sweet caramel with a pinch of salt and a little dry, ashy smoke. The palate is rich, balanced and oily, with dark honey or maple syrup and sultanas, then malty cereal, nuts and a little oak. The finish is long and spicy, with oak, drying gradually.
