This is the 2025 Campbeltown Malts Festival release from Glen Scotia, a nine-year-old single malt in a 750ml bottle. It is an annual limited edition, and the distillery makes peated spirit for only six weeks of the year.
The whisky starts in first fill bourbon barrels, then finishes in Ribera del Duero red wine casks. The wine casks turn the tropical notes of the bourbon stage into red, ripe fruit.
On the nose, creamy vanilla sits under rich peat smoke. The palate brings juicy blackberry and a whisper of liquorice, and the smoke weaves through the fruit into a velvety, lingering finish.
