This is batch 9 of the GlenAllachie 10 Year Old cask strength series, a Speyside single malt bottled at 58.1% vol in a limited quantity. It has a bright mahogany colour.
The whisky was matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry puncheons and Rioja barriques, with a small share of virgin oak casks added to keep the balance of earlier batches.
The nose offers roasted coffee beans, grated nutmeg, walnut oil, heather honey, raisins, toffee and dried red berries. On the palate come cinnamon, syrup and honeycomb, turning to vanilla, caramel, candied ginger, espresso and dark chocolate. The long finish adds crema catalana, nutmeg and a little spice.
