This is a 17 year old Glenallachie bottled by Cadenhead at 46%. It was matured in a parcel of refill butts.
The whisky sets sweet and savoury notes against a hint of spice.
The nose offers medjool dates, mocha and ground nutmeg, followed by sweet walnuts, pistachios, floral heather and hints of passionfruit. On the palate are cinnamon, ginger, sweet marzipan, butterscotch and pumpernickel bread. Aniseed, brandy-soaked cherries, rye toast and dark chocolate linger in the finish.
