GlenAllachie – 8 Year Old Koval Rye Wood Finish (70cl, 48%)

This is an 8 year old single malt from GlenAllachie in Speyside, bottled at 48% abv in a 70cl bottle in 2019. After maturing in American oak, it spent around two years in rye quarter casks from the Koval distillery in Chicago. The smaller casks bring the whisky into closer contact with the wood, and the former rye whiskey shows strongly in a short time. The nose is rich in spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by honey and butterscotch. On the palate the spices return, mixed with honey, butterscotch, cooked apples and cloves.
