GlenAllachie 8 Year Old Scottish Virgin Oak is a single malt from the distillery's Virgin Oak Series, released on 21st March 2023 and bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered.
The whisky was first matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then given a secondary maturation in casks made from Scottish Sessile oak, grown along the Atlantic coast and seldom used because of its dense grain, high cost and natural knots.
The nose has baked pear, toffee, cinnamon, honey and nutmeg. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with butterscotch, heather honey, golden syrup, orchard fruit and vanilla cream. The finish is long, with gentle oak and warming spice.
