This is a 9 year old Speyside single malt from Glenallachie, finished in barriques from Portugal's Douro Valley. Billy Walker selected it, and 12,000 bottles were filled at 48%, in a 70cl size.
The Douro barriques gave the malt a rich mahogany colour and added dried stone fruit and a hint of warming spice.
The nose offers plum jam, clementines and dried red berries, with heather honey and vanilla. On the palate come dried apricots, heather honey and crystallised fruit, followed by ripe black fruit, caramel and cinnamon.
