This is the original bottling in GlenAllachie's Meikle Tòir series, a heavily peated five-year-old Speyside single malt at 48% ABV. The name is Gaelic for 'big mission', reflecting Billy Walker's aim of making smoky malts in a region not known for them. The malt is dried over mainland peat from St. Fergus, with a phenol level of 35 ppm.
It matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and American virgin oak, partly in ex-rye casks, and is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is complex, with baking spices, roasted honey, hazelnut espresso and sweet peat smoke. The palate brings heather honey, spicy oak, cinnamon and smoked caramel, ending sweet and smoky with spicy oak.
