GlenAllachie – Virgin Oak Series 10 Year Old Chinquapin Oak Finish (70cl, 48%)

GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series 10 Year Old is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It is Batch 2 of the series from master distiller Billy Walker, bottled without chill filtration or added colour. The whisky matured first in ex-bourbon American oak, then spent 18 months in virgin casks of chinquapin oak, a Missouri white oak subspecies. The wood was air-dried for nearly four years and given a medium toast. The nose brings orange zest, heather honey and pecan, with butterscotch, nutmeg and liquorice. On the palate there is cinnamon, barley sugar and toasted biscuits, then rose hips, orange peel and heather honey.
