This ten-year-old single malt from GlenAllachie is part of its Virgin Oak series. It is bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured first in ex-bourbon casks of American oak (Quercus Alba). It then finished for about 18 months in hogsheads made from Quercus Robur grown in Spain's Cantabrian mountains. The oak was air-dried for 18 months, then toasted and charred to open the pores and help draw out flavour.
The finish is described as bringing caramel sauce and ripe banana.
