This seven-year-old single malt from GlenAllachie belongs to its Virgin Oak series, which looks at how the origin and species of the oak shape flavour. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV.
The whisky first matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak (Quercus Alba). It then spent about 18 months in Quercus Petraea oak from the Zemplén forest in north-eastern Hungary, an unusual wood for Scotch whisky.
The finish is described as bringing lemon juice, cinnamon and raisins.
