GlenAllachie – Wine Series 9 Year Old Cuvee Cask Finish (70cl, 48%)

GlenAllachie Wine Series 9 Year Old Cuvee Cask Finish is a Speyside single malt bottled at 48% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It was distilled in 2012, matured first in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in four European wine barriques: one from Languedoc, one that held Recioto della Valpolicella, and two from undisclosed Premier Cru Classé Bordeaux châteaux. Billy Walker selected the casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has natural colour. The nose is orange blossom, espresso, maraschino cherry, honeysuckle and candied stone fruit. On the palate come dark chocolate, redcurrants, burnt coffee bean, crystallised almond and blackberry, closing with orange zest, ginger and liquorice.
