Glendalough Double Barrel is a 4 year old single grain Irish whiskey, bottled at 42% ABV in a 750ml bottle after being brought down to strength with Wicklow mountain water.
It was first matured in American bourbon barrels, then finished for six months in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks.
The colour is bright, translucent yellow. The nose is creamy and malty, with vanilla, white chocolate, buttery fudge, cooking apples, white grapes, marzipan icing and toasted oak. The palate is caramel, salty melted butter and creme anglaise, with blackberries and marmalade. Polished oak and wood spice linger in the finish.
