Glendalough – 7 Year Old Mizunara Cask Finish Single Malt Irish Whiskey (75cl, 46%)

A seven-year-old single malt Irish whiskey from Glendalough, finished in Mizunara oak and bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The distillers went looking for the finest oak beyond their own wooded mountains in Wicklow, and found Mizunara in Hokkaido, in the volcanic north of Japan. That wood gives this bottling its character. The nose is fruity and floral, followed by a smooth mouthfeel with dark chocolate orange, sandalwood and cinnamon. The finish is long, with toasted oak and oriental spices, and the dark chocolate lingers longest.
