Glendalough Double Barrel is an Irish whiskey in a 70cl bottle, from a craft distillery built near Glendalough by a group of friends from Wicklow and Dublin.
It is matured twice: first in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then in Spanish oak casks that previously held oloroso sherry. The oloroso casks are sourced in the Andalusian town of Montilla.
The palate is sweet and soft, with butterscotch, honey, peppercorn, dried fruit, maraschino cherries and brown sugar. The finish brings ginger, a touch of almond and some earthiness.
