Glendalough – Double Barrel Irish Whiskey (75cl, 42%)

Glendalough Double Barrel is an Irish single grain whiskey from Glendalough Distillery in the Wicklow Mountains, bottled at 42% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is distilled in a Coffey still from malted barley and Irish corn. The whiskey spent three and a half years in first-fill American oak bourbon barrels, then six months in first-fill Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. The bourbon wood brings chocolate and caramel, while the sherry casks add fruitier, nutty notes. The nose is rich with dark fruit, including cherry, raisin, fig and Christmas pudding, alongside floral notes, lemongrass and a little nutmeg. The palate is sweet and creamy, with butterscotch, honey, peppercorn and dried fruit. The finish is lingering, with ginger spice and a hint of almond.
