Glendalough – Single Cask Grand Cru Burgundy Cask Finish Irish Whiskey (75cl, 42%)

A single cask Irish single grain whiskey from Glendalough, bottled at 42% in a 75cl bottle. The whiskey was first matured in a first-fill bourbon cask, then finished in a Grand Cru Burgundy wine cask from France that had previously held Pinot Noir. That second cask adds red fruit and tannin to the grain character. In the tasting notes, the nose offers vanilla fudge, dark cherries and leafy leather, with red berries behind. The palate brings citrus peel, summer berries and cherry compote over toasted oak and peppery spice, and the finish is moderately long, with red fruit, oak spice and a gentle dryness.
