GlenDronach – 12 Year Old 2013 Amontillado Cask Strength (70cl, 61.8%)

This is a GlenDronach 12 Year Old, a Highland single malt distilled in 2013 and bottled at a cask strength of 61.8% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in an Amontillado sherry cask, an unusual choice for a distillery more closely associated with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks. Amontillado is traditionally a drier, more oxidative style of sherry, known for a nutty character. A cask of this kind can add dried fruit, roasted nuts, spice, polished oak and a savoury note alongside the malt. It can be enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water.
