GlenDronach 40 Year Old is a cask strength Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle. It spent four decades maturing in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, made from Spanish oak from the bodegas of Jerez, in dunnage warehouses.
Master Blender Rachel Barrie chose the casks for this bottling. The whisky has an intense black ochre colour.
The nose is black cherry, stewed plum and blackberry, with sherry-soaked chocolate gateau. On the palate come blackcurrant and bramble compote, prune and raisin wine, and cinnamon-laced chocolate espresso.
