This is a Glendronach from the 1994 vintage, matured for 28 years in sherry casks and bottled on 23 March 2022 at 48.9% ABV. It is Batch 11 of the Grandeur series, drawn from an outturn of 3,181 bottles, and comes here as a 10cl sample.
Glendronach stands at Forgue, near Huntly in Aberdeenshire.
The nose is full of sherry, with cherries, blueberries, almonds, raisins and marzipan alongside honey and vanilla. On the palate it is rich and powerful, with coffee, caramel, plums, dates, dried figs and mint. The finish is very long, spicy and sweet, with dark chocolate and oak.
