GlenDronach – Ode To The Embers (70cl, 48.4%)

Ode To The Embers is a peated Highland single malt from GlenDronach, bottled at 48.4% in a 700ml bottle. It is part of the Master's Anthology, a three-part series by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, and carries no age statement. The whisky was matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, with warm, earthy Highland peat smoke running through the sherry character. It is bottled non-chill filtered and with natural colour. The nose offers cinnamon-spiced toffee, flamed orange, caramelised walnut and apple. The palate is rich and full, with raisin, honeyed walnut, bramble ganache and smoked chocolate fudge. The finish is long and drying, with dark berries, smoked liquorice, cocoa and ginger spice.
