Glenfarclas 17 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the Grant family's distillery at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Ballindalloch, in a 75cl bottle at 43% with natural colour. It is made from 100% malted barley, distilled twice and matured in sherry casks, principally ex-Oloroso from Jerez.
Glenfarclas has been licensed since 1836 and has belonged to the Grant family since 1865. It distils in direct-fired copper pot stills.
The nose combines butterscotch, sherried fruit and a little peat smoke. The palate is full and rich, with sherry-sweet malty tones, dried fruit and orange peel, and the finish is long and smooth with a hint of spice.
