Glenfarclas 40 Years Old is a Speyside single malt from 1977, drawn from a single cask, number 7292, in the Family Casks series. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The Glenfarclas family has run the distillery since 1836, and the house places a strong emphasis on sherry cask ageing and long-term complexity. The nose shows dried fruit, walnut, spice and polished wood. The palate is rich and elegant, with dark caramel, raisin, oak and subtle cocoa, finishing exceptionally long and smooth.
