Glenfiddich – 15 Year Old Solera Reserve (75cl, 40%)

This is a 15 year old Speyside single malt from Glenfiddich, in a 75cl bottle. The whisky is matured in three types of oak cask: sherry, bourbon and new oak. The casks are then vatted in a Solera vat that is never emptied and is always kept at least half full, which is what gives the Solera Reserve its name. The distillery describes the result as a whisky of character and complexity. The distillery's own notes describe heather honey, vanilla fudge and rich dark fruits on the nose. The palate is silky and full bodied, with sherry oak, marzipan, cinnamon and ginger, leading to a rich finish with lingering sweetness.
