Glenfiddich 30 Year Old 2009 – 40th Anniversary Edition

This is a Glenfiddich 30 Year Old, a single malt Scotch bottled in 2009 as a 40th anniversary edition. It comes from a Speyside distillery whose 30 year old is vatted from casks the Malt Master has nurtured for three decades, then nosed and tasted personally before they are blended in small, individually numbered batches. The style is woody with plenty of sherry influence, and the colour is a rich bronze. On the nose it is finely balanced, with substantial oak alongside fruit and luscious sherry notes. The palate is complex and woody with a floral sweetness. The finish is exceedingly long, honeyed and warm. Oloroso sherry, fig and dark chocolate are the key notes.
