Glenfiddich 40 Year Old is a Speyside single malt bottled at 44.6% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is made from hand-selected individual casks, each matured for at least forty years.
Each release is vatted by remnant vatting: a portion of the previous 40 Year Old vatting is held back and married with newly chosen old casks. The casks are sherry-seasoned European oak and ex-bourbon American oak, and the whisky is dark mahogany in colour.
The nose is layered with dried fruits, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and black cherries, with wood smoke, leather and cloves. The palate is full and silky, moving from dried fruit and fruitcake to dry oak and bitter chocolate. The finish is long.
