Glenfiddich Age of Discovery III Red Wine Cask is a 19 year old Speyside single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is the third and final release in the Age of Discovery series, created to commemorate the 1831 voyage of HMS Beagle and Charles Darwin, and was a travel retail exclusive.
The whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and was then finished in Californian red wine casks.
The nose is very rich dark fruit, with raspberries, blackcurrants, chocolate cherry syrup and oak. The palate has stewed fruits, dates, raisins and plums. The finish carries a pleasant bitterness, with dark berries and oak.
