Glenfiddich Cumulative Time 40 Year Old is a Speyside single malt at 44.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle, part of the Time Re:Imagined collection released in 2022.
It is made by remnant vatting: a portion of each previous batch is carried forward and married with new casks in the distillery's marrying tun. The whisky matured in American and European oak hogsheads and ex-sherry butts, and it comes in a crystal decanter inside a hand-finished sculptural jesmonite case.
The nose is silky and layered, with dried fruit, fruitcake, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, wood smoke and polished leather. On the palate come fruitcake, black cherries, apple pie and bitter chocolate with a whisper of peat. The finish is long and dry, with cocoa and seasoned oak.
