Glenfiddich – Orchard Experiment Experimental Series #05 (43%)

Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment is the fifth release in the distillery's Experimental Series, a collaboration between Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich's malt master, and Matilda Temperley, master distiller of the Somerset Cider Brandy Company. It is bottled at 43%. The whisky is described as the first Single Malt Scotch matured in Somerset Pomona spirit casks, which combine cider brandy and apple juice. It was inspired by the old apple orchards of Somerset. The nose has crisp green apple peel, a little vanilla and tart fermented fruit against sweet, buttery toffee. On the palate come pressed apples, a hint of pear, orange and lemon peel, then spiced apple pie and nutmeg. Cider notes carry into the finish.
