Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix is a single malt bottled in 2010 as a one-off edition. It came about after heavy snow brought down the roofs of four warehouses at the distillery in Dufftown in January 2010. Malt Master Brian Kinsman married the salvaged whiskies, aged between 13 and 30 years, from ex-bourbon American oak and Oloroso sherry casks.
It is non-chill-filtered, bottled at 47.6% in a 75cl bottle, and was dedicated to the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team.
The nose is creamy and lively, with caramelised sugar, coffee, sherry and a touch of woody smoke. The palate is full and complex, and the finish is long, with oak, dried fruit and sweet spice.
