Glenglassaugh 12 Year Old is the flagship expression from the Highland distillery on the Aberdeenshire coast. It is a single malt bottled at 45% ABV in a 70cl bottle, made under master blender Rachel Barrie.
The whisky is matured in red wine and sherry casks, which add berries and candied nuts, while the coastal location gives it a maritime character.
The nose is fruity and bright, with berries, candied nuts and a gentle coastal saltiness. The palate is rich and textured, with apricots, figs, dates and a creamy sweetness. The finish is of medium length, with cherry, a dusting of salt and a lingering warmth.
