Glenglassaugh – Serpentine Coastal Cask 50 Year Old (70cl, 42%)

This is a 50 year old single malt from Glenglassaugh, bottled at 42% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection, drawn from casks found in the distillery's coastal warehouses when it reopened in 2008 after a closure of almost twenty years. Master Blender Rachel Barrie selected each cask in the collection. This one was matured in virgin oak and has a deep red colour. The nose is typically described as red flower, currant and sun-dried gorse with blossom honey and toffee touched by star anise. On the palate come blackcurrant and plum syrup, guava and cocoa, with a lingering ocean spice.
