Glengoyne – 12 Year Old (75cl, 43%)

Glengoyne 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was matured for twelve years in a mix of casks: 20% first-fill European oak sherry, 20% first-fill bourbon and 60% refill oak. The barley is Golden Promise, dried by air alone rather than peat, and the distillery describes its distillation as the slowest in Scotland. The stillhouse stands in the Highlands, while the warehouses across the A81 road are in the Lowlands. Tasting notes mention coconut oil, honey, lemon zest and dried oak on the nose, then toffee apples, ginger, orange and shortbread on the palate. The finish carries a hint of sherry over soft oak.
