Glengoyne – 15 Year Old (75cl, 43%)

Glengoyne 15 Year Old is an unpeated Highland single malt bottled at 43% ABV. It returned to the core range in autumn 2022 with its current recipe, after several years away. Glengoyne dries its barley with warm air rather than peat smoke and runs its stills at roughly five litres a minute, about a third of the usual pace. The casks are 20% first-fill bourbon, 25% first-fill sherry and 55% refill, and the whisky is not chill-filtered. The nose is malt flour, fresh hay, dried fruit and sweet lemon with a toffee-popcorn edge. The palate is clean and gently sweet, with tropical fruit, candied lemon, cinnamon and vanilla, then apple pie, oily toffee, salted butter and walnuts. The finish is dry, with gentle spice and lingering oak.
