Glenlivet 12 Year (175cl, 40%)

This is the twelve-year-old single malt from The Glenlivet, a Speyside distillery founded in 1824 by George Smith. It is bottled at 40% in a large 1.75-litre bottle. The whisky is made from malted barley and fermented in wooden washbacks. It matures in European oak casks and is then finished in American oak. The nose is fresh with green apple, pear and melon, alongside floral notes, vanilla, almond and citrus zest. The palate is smooth and creamy, with ripe apple, pineapple, apricot, honey, toffee and biscuity malt. The finish is medium, clean and slightly oaky, with vanilla, orchard fruit and a touch of spice.
