Glenlivet – 1976 Gordon & Macphail Private Collection Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 43.1%)

This is a Glenlivet single malt from Gordon & Macphail's Private Collection, a range personally selected by members of the Urquhart family. It was distilled in January 1976 and bottled in November 2021 at 43.1%, in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured in a refill sherry hogshead, and 266 bottles were released. The nose opens with fruit, woody spices, wood polish and old leather, then moves to salted toffee and dark chocolate over subtle sherry notes. The palate is creamy, with dried fruits, figs, spices and sweet fudge, and menthol set against bitter oak. The finish turns to cinnamon, clove and walnut, which shorten its length.
