This single cask Glenlochy comes from a Highland distillery in Fort William that has been closed since 1983. It was distilled on 15 November 1979 and spent 43 years in a refill American oak hogshead, number 3309. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 11 January 2023 for the Private Collection, within the second Recollection Series. The cask gave 141 bottles at a natural 53.6%, and the whisky is non-chill-filtered with no added colouring.
The nose opens with strong vanilla and ripe red apple, with waxy lemon peel and sweet malt pastry. The palate is smooth and creamy, with exotic fruit, chocolate and lime. The finish brings aniseed and a touch of menthol.
