Glenlochy – 1980/2015 Signatory Vintage Rare Reserve (70cl, 48%)

This is a Glenlochy single malt distilled on 6 November 1980 and bottled on 2 December 2015 by Signatory Vintage for its Rare Reserve range. It spent 35 years in a single hogshead, and the Highland distillery in Fort William closed in 1983. Hogshead 3231 gave 71 bottles at a cask strength of 48%. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. Tasting notes describe a nose of mandarin, Williams pear and orange blossom honey, lifted by fresh mint. The palate brings honey, lemon and lemongrass with yellow peach, banana, oak, menthol and pine resin. The finish is medium in length, fresh and minty, with orange and mandarin fading to a bitter, herbal note.
