Glenmorangie A Tale of The Forest is a limited-edition Highland single malt from Tain, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It carries no age statement and was matured in bourbon barrels, many of them refill casks.
The barley was kilned with woodland botanicals: juniper berries, birch bark and heather flowers, along with a little peat. Dr Bill Lumsden revived this ancient malting method for the release.
The nose is sweet malt and biscuit with juniper, coriander, pine needles and damp woodland. On the palate, pepper and peppermint give way to eucalyptus, pine and bitter orange with a hint of wood smoke. The finish is slow and gently oaky, with orange and lemon.
