Glenmorangie Artein is a Highland single malt, released in 2012 as the third Private Edition from the distillery. It is made from 15 and 21 year old whiskies that matured first in ex-bourbon casks, then received a further maturation in Super Tuscan wine casks that held Sassicaia. The name is the Gaelic word for stone. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is rich and fruity, with red berry compote, apricot and peach, plus vanilla and a hint of mint. The palate is full and warming with an oily texture, bringing dark chocolate, toffee, cherry, ginger and nutmeg. The finish is long, with oak spice, dark fruit and almonds.
