Bacalta is the eighth Glenmorangie Private Edition, a Highland single malt bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The name is Scots Gaelic for "sun-baked", and the whisky was inspired by sun-baked fruits.
After time in ex-bourbon casks, it was finished in Malmsey Madeira wine casks, the rarest and sweetest style of Madeira cask. It is non-chill filtered.
The nose has baked stone fruits, honey and white chocolate with mint and citrus. The palate brings caramelised apricots, dates, almonds, honeycomb and marzipan, with white pepper. The finish is rich and syrupy, with lingering dried fruit, nuts and warm spice.
