A 12 year old Highland single malt from Glenmorangie, and the first from the distillery to be finished in Palo Cortado sherry casks.
The whisky spent its first eight years in American white oak bourbon casks. A small batch was then moved into Palo Cortado casks, which Glenmorangie had not used before and which were hard to obtain. Palo Cortado arises by chance, when flor yeast fails to form on sherry intended to become Amontillado.
The result is sweet, nutty and layered, with dark plum, milk chocolate, Brazil nuts and sweet spice.
