Glenmorangie Spìos is the ninth release in the annual Private Edition, here the 2018 edition. It was matured exclusively in former American rye whiskey casks, and its name is Gaelic for spice.
The rye casks add the cinnamon and clove notes typical of rye to the Glenmorangie character.
The nose is herbal, fresh and spicy, with dark toffee, citrus or mandarin, cloves and freshly cut grass. The palate is spicy and quite dry, with cloves, nutmeg, light oak, marzipan and vanilla. The finish is medium in length and drying, with citrus, toffee, Brazil nut and oak.
