Glenmorangie The Infinita is an 18-year-old Highland single malt from the distillery at Tain, bottled at 43% ABV. It is the new name for the whisky previously sold as Glenmorangie 18 Years Old, formerly labelled Extremely Rare, and Dr Bill Lumsden confirms the whisky itself is unchanged.
It spends 15 years in American oak bourbon casks, after which a portion has a further three years in Oloroso sherry casks before the two are married together.
The nose is rich and sweet, with dried fruit, honey, vanilla, narcissus and jasmine. The palate has honey, malt, figs, dates, nuts and orange marmalade, with gentle spice and a hint of wood smoke. The finish is long, with dried fruit sweetness over Oloroso nuttiness.
