Glenmorangie The Nectar 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and non-chill-filtered. It is a development of the Nectar d'Or.
The whisky spent 14 years in bourbon casks, then a further two years in a combination of Sauternes, Monbazillac, Moscatel and Tokaji wine casks.
The nose is rich, with brioche, baked apricot, vanilla custard, roasted almonds, chestnuts and chocolate truffle, plus citrus zest and herbs such as sage or basil. The palate is creamy, with honeycomb, orange syrup, nutmeg, star anise, caramelised apricot and warm pastry on an oak base. The finish is long and sweet, with lemon peel, vanilla cream, ginger and nutmeg.
